GD: an open source HTML5 and native game creator requiring no coding skills

As a developer, i was as well interested in the game development branch, however i couldn't dedicate a lot of time on it because of another responsabilities. Just thinking about learning new languages, new frameworks was simply exhausting without even trying to learn the technology indeed. But now in 2018, you may be able to create your own game just for fun or commercial purposes without even writing a line of code, just using an application. We are talking about a new awesome and fun project named GDevelop, whose source code is available at Github and is fully open source.

GDevelop is a full featured, open source game development software, allowing to create HTML5 and native games without any knowledge in a specific programming language. All the game logic is made thanks to an intuitive and powerful event based system. The application has an awesome IDE for Desktop that you can download and get started with your own projects:

Demo GDevelop

There's available as well a web versions with some limitations, however pretty functional. You can test the IDE online here. For the project there's available an awesome Wiki that you can find here that covers the most basic usage of the IDE, examples or even full functional projects that you can use

Games exported with GDevelop are based on the native and/or HTML5 game engines (see CoreGDCpp and GDJS folders): these engines are distributed under the MIT license, so that you can distribute, sell or do anything with the games you created with GDevelop. In particular, you are not forced to make your game open source ! So what are you waiting for ? Willing to try this application ? We would be glad as well to know more about the projects that you create with this tool, so if you are confident enough, share your creations with the world using the comment box of this article. For more information about this project, don't forget to visit the official webpage here or the source code repository at Github here.

Happy coding !
